To quote the noted 20th-century philosopher Bugs Bunny: "Gasp!"

Seriously, thank you SO much for this blast from the past. I think I was...14, maybe? when this aired. Having watched Laugh-In and the new Laugh-In while I was a tot, I knew what George Schlatter was all about, and this was still the weirdest, corniest goddamn thing I had ever seen. I mean, *makes All This gesture* what the hell? Jokes about the murder of the author of the Scarsdale Diet? Jackie Mason as Mr. O'Reilly? Crispin Glover crying "ELEPHANTS!!!" while listening to "that new Talking Heads tape"?! What fever dream is this?

(I am only slightly ashamed to admit that The Best of Times left me with a whomping crush on weird little Crispin Glover, which was only solidified by Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter, where he was positively dreamy, albeit still deeply weird.
