She could have had a blood cancer disease (myeloproliferative disorder). I am 67 and I saw that movie when it came out. I have what Jenny had. Most cancer patients need to go right into chemo and have a classic cancer journey. It's not like that for me. My biggest problem is fatigue and yes that is pretty easy to work around and hide. So .... I dunno, I am actually grateful for this aspect of my disease. Yes it is cancer but my experience is just easier (at this point) than what others go through. It will suck eventually.
Loved this article... hilarious and right on the nose!! I am learning the theme tune on the piano at the moment and reading this highlights just how daft the film premise actually is. Watching the film when I was in my twenties I never realised how skewed towards preppie O'Neal the film actually is... possibly because I was sent off to a prep school myself at the age of 8 ;0) However your article makes me realise just how blatantly sexist the film is. In essence the film is all about the sacrifices long-suffering-heir-to-a-billion-dollar-fortune O'Neal's character must make to be with Jennifer and this theme continues right up to the point of her (suprisingly non agonising) demise.
